The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for Kalbaishakhi storms and possible hail across five divisions of Bangladesh.
According to the latest bulletin released on Sunday (April 26), Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Sylhet divisions may experience Kalbaishakhi storms within the next 48 hours starting from 12 noon today. Winds could reach speeds of 60–80 km/h or higher, accompanied by thunderstorms and isolated hail.
The department also forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Deep cloud formations over northern regions and nearby areas may intensify the situation.
From 6 pm on April 25, heavy rainfall (44–88 mm in 24 hours) to very heavy rainfall (up to 188 mm in 24 hours) is expected in some areas over the next 96 hours.
Authorities have warned that such rainfall may lead to temporary waterlogging in parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet metropolitan areas.
Residents in affected regions are advised to remain cautious and follow official updates.
