A mild cold wave is sweeping across several districts of Bangladesh, bringing dropping temperatures and thick fog that could disrupt travel, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) announced Sunday morning.
The cold wave is currently affecting Pabna, Sirajganj, Cumilla, Jashore, Kushtia, Moulvibazar, and the Sylhet division. Meteorologists expect the chill to persist for the next 24 hours.
The BMD warned that moderate to thick fog—stretching from midnight through noon in some areas—could temporarily disrupt: Aviation: Air navigation and flight schedules. Waterways: Inland river transport and ferries. Roads: Major highway communication and visibility.
While night temperatures are expected to dip further, daytime temperatures may see a slight rise. The lowest temperature in the country today was recorded in Srimangal at 9.5°C, while Teknaf recorded the high on Saturday at 26.8°C.
Despite the chill, the weather is expected to remain largely dry with partly cloudy skies across the country.
