Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Tala Upazila Health Complex in Satkhira on Sunday morning to evaluate patient care and enforce administrative discipline.

During his visit the minister inspected the hospital’s kitchen—personally tasting the food prepared for patients—and reviewed the wards operation theater medicine stores, and staff attendance registers. He also spoke directly with patients to assess the quality of available medical services and medicine supplies.

Addressing recent facility irregularities the minister directed strict disciplinary measures. He recommended filing a criminal case against food security guard Mostafa Biswas over the theft of an outdoor air conditioning unit. Additionally he instructed the Director General of Health Services to take immediate administrative action against Dr. Shaoli Nanjiba Tanni a medical officer who has been absent from duty for an extended period.

To address nationwide healthcare shortages the minister announced ongoing efforts to recruit doctors urgently through a special BCS exam alongside a new initiative to hire 100,000 health workers. Locally he revealed plans to upgrade the Tala Upazila Health Complex into a 100-bed facility. Soil testing will begin shortly for a new 7- to 8-story modern building which will feature a trauma center paralysis and physiotherapy units and a breastfeeding corner.

The minister also ordered the swift completion of ongoing washroom renovations and committed to constructing a paved ghatla (steps) for the hospital pond within a month. Local officials including Upazila Executive Officer Jannatul Afroz and Health Officer Dr. Mizanur Rahman, accompanied him during the tour.
