Veteran Freedom Fighter and Educator Rowshan Ali Mia Passes Away

Advocate Md. Rowshan Ali Mia, a valiant freedom fighter, distinguished lawyer, and former Principal of Government Muksudpur College, passed away on Saturday (April 25) at approximately 7:30 PM. He was 82.

He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka due to age-related complications. He is survived by his wife, three sons, and a host of relatives and admirers.

His funeral prayer (Janaza) was held on Sunday (April 26) at 10:00 AM at the Muksudpur Central Eidgah Ground. Following the Janaza, he was laid to rest with full state honors. A guard of honor was led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmud Ashiq Kabir, while Gopalganj District Freedom Fighters Commander Md. Firoz Khan and fellow veterans paid floral tributes.

Speakers at the Janaza remembered Rowshan Ali Mia as a principled leader and an exemplary teacher. During his tenure as Principal of Government Muksudpur College, he was instrumental in advancing higher education in the region. He also served as the President of the Muksudpur Kamil Madrasa managing committee.

Tributes were paid by Professor Md. Lutfar Rahman, Principal, Government Muksudpur College. Touhidul Haque Bokul, Former Acting Principal. Mahmud Hasan Sohag, Eldest son of the deceased.

Local leaders including Mashiur Rahman Mintoo and Kamruzzaman Swapan. Known for his integrity, Rowshan Ali Mia’s family remains deeply involved in public service. His wife, Farida Yasmin, is a former school teacher. His sons include Mahmud Hasan Sohag (Banker), Mahbub Hasan Sagar (Lecturer), and Moinul Hasan Rowshoni Sohan (Deputy Director, Anti-Corruption Commission).

He was buried at his family graveyard in Tengrakhola village. Locals have described his passing as an irreparable loss to the nation and the Muksudpur community.
