Australian batter Chris Lynn has completed a one-month suspension following a positive test for cocaine during England’s T20 Blast competition as the English Cricket Regulator confirmed on Thursday.
The 36-year-old tested positive for a cocaine metabolite after an anti-doping check on July 18, 2026, when his team Northamptonshire won the T20 Blast title at Edgbaston. Lynn was provisionally suspended on July 31 after admitting to using the substance out of competition between July 15 and 16.
The regulator accepted that the drug use was unrelated to his sporting performance. An expert review confirmed the out-of-competition timing also leading authorities to drop one of two initial anti-doping charges.
While the regulator initially sought a three-month sanction, the penalty was reduced to one month after Lynn successfully completed an approved substance abuse treatment program on August 30.
Northamptonshire will face no sanctions regarding the incident. Lynn represented Australia in four ODIs and 18 T20 internationals and served the ban between July 31 and August 30.
He has not played professional cricket since the suspension began and remains unsigned for the upcoming Big Bash League season.
