Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane has signed a contract extension with Bayern Munich also keeping him at the Bundesliga club until June 30, 2029.
The announcement comes just a week after the 33-year-old England captain was awarded the Ballon d'Or, becoming the first Englishman to win football's most prestigious individual honor since Michael Owen in 2001.
Since joining Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, Kane has scored 156 goals in 161 appearances across all competitions. His prolific record has helped Bayern secure two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and two German Super Cups with ending his long wait for major team trophies.
"I feel right at home at FC Bayern" Kane said in a statement. "I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and a fantastic manager in Vincent Kompany. I was keen to stay and win many more titles here."
While financial details were not officially disclosed, German media reported that the deal is the most lucrative contract in Bayern’s history. The extension signals a firm commitment to Germany, distancing Kane from a potential return to the English Premier League where he sits 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s record of 260 goals.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen praised Kane's impact on and off the pitch, "Since joining us in 2023, he has achieved extraordinary things with his goals and leadership. His extension is a commitment to FC Bayern and a story that is far from over."
