West Indies captain Roston Chase elected to bat first after winning the toss in the second Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet, with 23-year-old Kevin Wickham making his Test debut.
West Indies were without in-form top-order batters John Campbell and Tagenarine Chanderpaul, who were ruled out due to a viral fever, according to a statement from Cricket West Indies.
Wickham, a top-order batter from Barbados, was named at No. 3 in the team sheet. He has scored 1,472 runs at an average of 40.88, including six centuries, in 25 first-class matches. His highest score is 153.
Joshua Da Silva returned to the side after missing the second Test against Sri Lanka and the first Test against Bangladesh. Although listed as an opener, he has never batted above No. 5 in Test cricket. Amir Jangoo was named as the West Indies wicketkeeper.
Bangladesh also made two changes to their lineup, bringing back Mushfiqur Rahim and Taskin Ahmed in place of Mominul Haque and Shoriful Islam, respectively.
Mushfiqur missed the first Test because of a finger injury, while Mominul was ruled out of the second match with a head injury.
