The ban issued via a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed on Thursday, November 5, aims to maintain peace and order around Sher-e-Bangla Nagar for the smooth conduct of the parliamentary session scheduled to begin on Monday, November 9.
Under Sections 28 and 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, carrying weapons, explosives or any hazardous materials in designated areas is strictly prohibited. All public gatherings, marches and demonstrations are also banned within the perimeter until the parliamentary session concludes.
The restriction covers major surrounding corridors and intersections, including:
North & East: From Mohakhali Crossing via Mymensingh Road through the Old Airport area to Farmgate, extending to the SAARC Fountain and Banglamotor Link Road.
South & West: From Dhanmondi Road 16 (Old 27) junction, Rokeya Sarani, Bijoy Sarani tourist crossing, Indira Road and Manik Mia Avenue.
The order applies to the protected Jatiya Sangsad grounds and all connecting roads and alleys within these boundaries. Security forces will enforce the restrictions to prevent disruptions and ensure public safety throughout the session.
