Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir announced Wednesday morning that the Purbachal New City Project will get four new police stations and six investigation centers. He shared the plans while inaugurating the Barkau Police Camp in the project area.
To strengthen law and order in the growing city, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is working to establish the four police stations and six investigation centers alongside two police lines, three Deputy Commissioner (DC) offices, and 41 police boxes. The police force has already completed the land registration for 18.63 acres of the 29.21 acres allotted for these facilities.
Future plans include fully integrating Purbachal into the DMP by creating a separate division. This new division would be led by an Additional Police Commissioner and employ a workforce of over 6,500 personnel.
The IGP noted that this infrastructure will significantly improve crime prevention, citizen security, and emergency response times. Improved public safety is also expected to support sustainable urbanization and economic growth in the rapidly expanding area.
DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, along with senior police officials and local residents, attended the inauguration.
