A Dhaka University student has been found dead at her home in Badda, with police questioning a teacher and a close classmate over the incident.

The deceased, Munira Mahjabin Mimo, was a master’s student (2019–20 session) of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Dhaka University. Her body was recovered on Sunday (April 26) and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.

Department chairman Kazi Tamanna Haque Sigma said the department learned of the incident in the morning. Teachers later visited Mimo’s residence. Initial findings suggest she may have died by suicide.

According to sources, a note recovered from the scene mentioned a teacher’s name and referred to money and personal items. Police also examined data from her mobile phone, which indicated possible communication with a teacher.

Gulshan Division (Badda) Additional Deputy Commissioner Jewel confirmed that the body has been sent for autopsy. He said a teacher from the department and one of Mimo’s close friends have been taken into custody for questioning based on preliminary evidence.

Police said further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
