Professor Dr. Obaidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka and president of the University Teachers’ Association of Bangladesh (UTAB), visited Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) on Friday.
During the visit PSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan welcomed Professor Dr. Obaidul Islam with a floral greeting. The two vice-chancellors held a courtesy meeting and exchanged views on various aspects of higher education and research.
Discussions focused on the university’s research activities, opportunities for marine resource research, and the potential for higher education and research in marine engineering. Given PSTU’s proximity to Kuakata and the presence of its Faculty of Oceanography and the meeting also highlighted opportunities to expand marine research and explore new avenues in related fields. Professor Dr. Obaidul Islam also visited the university halls and held discussions with the PSTU vice-chancellor on the university’s overall academic, research and development activities.
PSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan said “We discussed the university’s overall research activities, the expansion of higher education and opportunities for mutual cooperation in education and research. We are hopeful that such collaborative initiatives will create new avenues for research and help Patuakhali Science and Technology University make further progress in this field.”
