RAB-7 has arrested Anik Das, a prime suspect in the murder of Ashfaq Kabir Sajid, an 11th-grade student of BAF Shaheen College. The arrest took place Saturday evening in the Sarkar Hat area of Anwara.
The victim, Sajid, originally from Cox’s Bazar, lived in the Baklia DC Road area of Chittagong. On April 12, while meeting a friend near Chawkbazar, a group of miscreants intercepted him. The attackers forcibly took Sajid to an under-construction building. When he attempted to escape, the group beat him and threw him down the empty elevator shaft from the 8th floor.
Sajid was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His father subsequently filed a murder case at Chawkbazar Police Station.
Anik Das (20), son of Jisshu Das, had been in hiding since the incident. Following a tip-off, a RAB-7 team led by Assistant Director ARM Mozaffar Hossain conducted a raid in Anwara to apprehend him.
The suspect has been handed over to Chawkbazar Police Station for further legal proceedings.
