


A total of 8,380 calls were received by the 'National Emergency Service 999' regarding the 13th National Parliament Election. Out of these, 3,713 calls were related to various complaints.
Mohiul Islam, Additional DIG, Chief of National Emergency Service 999, gave this information on Sunday (February 15). He said that in order to conduct the election in a free, fair and peaceful manner, 999 adopted a special action plan, which was operational 24 hours a day from January 22 to February 14.
Among the calls received, 3,713 complaints were received regarding violation of the code of conduct, clashes between supporters of rival candidates, campaigning during prohibited hours, irregularities at polling stations and law and order situation. These complaints were immediately sent to the concerned police stations, district and metropolitan police and returning and assistant returning officers. He said that necessary action has been taken as per the law.
Apart from this, the remaining 4,667 calls were for various election-related information.
Mohiul Islam further said that during this time, emergency assistance was provided to citizens seeking service through round-the-clock communication and coordination with the 'Law and Order Coordination Cell' of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Throughout the election period, 999 took the initiative to resolve the complaints on the basis of highest priority.
