At least Ten Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes across the northern and southern Gaza Strip on Sunday, Palestinian civil defence and health officials said. Israel’s military said the strikes responded to ceasefire violations by Hamas.
Medics said an airstrike hit a tent camp sheltering displaced families, killing at least four people. Health officials said another strike killed five people in Khan Younis.
An Israeli military official said the Israel Defense Forces launched strikes after what it described as Hamas violations near Beit Hanoun. The official said gunmen emerged from a tunnel east of the “Yellow Line,” a boundary set under the ceasefire to separate Israeli and Hamas-controlled areas.
The official said the strikes were “precise” and conducted in line with international law. He added that Hamas had committed more than six violations of the ceasefire, including moving armed fighters east of the Yellow Line.
“Crossing the Yellow Line near IDF troops while armed is a clear ceasefire violation,” the official said, adding that such actions showed intent to harm Israeli forces.
Israel and Hamas have repeatedly accused each other of breaking the ceasefire, which is part of a broader effort backed by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the Gaza war.
On Saturday, the Israeli military said it detected armed militants near Israeli troops operating in northern Gaza. It said air force jets later struck a building above what it described as an underground tunnel, killing two gunmen and possibly others.
The Gaza health ministry said at least 600 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire began. Israel said four of its soldiers were killed by militants in Gaza during the same period.
