Kyiv, Ukraine - Russian overnight drone and missile strikes have resulted in four deaths and approximately 20 injuries across Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv and the Dnipropetrovsk region, authorities confirmed Saturday.
The internal affairs ministry reported that a rescuer was killed and another wounded in a repeated missile strike on the Petropavlivska community in Dnipropetrovsk. In the eastern region, one woman died and seven people were injured, with damage reported to fire trucks, residential buildings, and shops.
In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated two people were killed and 12 wounded. Reporters heard blasts around 4:00 a.m. (01:00 GMT), and emergency services battled major fires in the Desnyansky and Darnytsky districts.
The Ukrainian air force said Russia launched nine Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 62 attack drones, claiming to have downed four ballistic missiles and 50 drones. The attack comes as Western allies, including the US and EU, ratchet up pressure on Moscow with new sanctions targeting its energy sector this week.
