In a significant move toward merit-based recruitment, 39 young men and women have been selected as Trainee Recruit Constables (TRC) in Kurigram for a total cost of just 120 Taka each.
The candidates were chosen through a strictly transparent and merit-based process, with the 120 Taka fee covering only the official application costs. Many of the successful recruits come from low-income families, securing their positions through hard work and qualification rather than financial influence or lobbying.
Emotional scenes unfolded as the results were announced, with many candidates and their families moved to tears of joy. Local residents have praised the transparency of the process, noting that it restores public confidence in government recruitment systems.
Kurigram District Superintendent of Police (SP) Khandaker Fazle Rabbi confirmed that selection was based entirely on talent and skill. He urged the new recruits to "serve the nation and its people with honesty, dedication, and humanity."
