Despite facing severe travel restrictions and visa complications, the Iranian national football team left a handwritten note thanking Los Angeles for its hospitality following their 0-0 World Cup draw against Belgium on Sunday.

The message, left in the SoFi Stadium dressing room, highlighted the team's resilience and sportsmanship. "From the ancient Persia of thousands of years ago to the civilised Iran of today, the spirit of Iran remains alive and steadfast," the note read. It further expressed gratitude to the host city and the passionate Iranian diaspora in Los Angeles, ending with a call for global peace, respect, and friendship.

This unifying gesture came just days after Iran’s football federation announced plans to file a formal complaint with FIFA regarding disruptive travel arrangements. The squad, based in Tijuana, Mexico, has faced significant logistical hurdles. They were restricted before the tournament, only landing in the U.S. the night before their midday match and departing immediately after. Head coach Amir Ghalenoei recently described his squad as the "most oppressed team" in the tournament due to these visa issues and limited preparation time.

Having secured two points from draws against New Zealand and Belgium, Iran now faces a crucial final group stage match against Egypt in Seattle on June 26. A victory will secure their progression to the knockout stages.
