The squad, based in Tijuana, Mexico, has faced significant logistical hurdles. They were restricted before the tournament, only landing in the U.S. the night before their midday match and departing immediately after. Head coach Amir Ghalenoei recently described his squad as the "most oppressed team" in the tournament due to these visa issues and limited preparation time.

Having secured two points from draws against New Zealand and Belgium, Iran now faces a crucial final group stage match against Egypt in Seattle on June 26. A victory will secure their progression to the knockout stages.
