Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) campus turned festive early Sunday as students and faculty gathered to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on a giant LED screen.
The live screening, held at 1:00 am in front of the administrative building, was organized courtesy of Mahbub Nahid, Private Secretary to the Education Adviser, and Zahid Ratul, President of the PSTU unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. The Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall Chhatra Dal supervised the arrangements.
Despite the late hour, a massive crowd of students joined the gathering. PSTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. S.M. Hemayet Jahan watched the title-deciding match alongside the students. He was joined by Proctor Prof. Abul Bashar Khan, Student Affairs Advisor Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Saiful Islam, various faculty deans, and PSTU Chhatra Dal General Secretary Sohel Rana Johnny.
“Co-curricular activities are essential for fostering students' mental well-being and a positive campus culture,” said Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jahan. “The World Cup happens every four years, and I did not want to miss sharing this special moment with the students. Enjoying the game together strengthens mutual trust and camaraderie between the administration and the student body.”
Zahid Ratul expressed his gratitude for the administrative and government support, emphasizing the organizers' goal to create a harmonious environment. “We will continue undertaking constructive initiatives to promote student welfare and co-curricular activities,” he stated.
The vibrant late-night event successfully bridged the gap between students, teachers, and university officials, turning the historic sports broadcast into a memorable community gathering.
