Ceylon Tea hosted the "Ceylon Amar Shar Chattogram" mega event at the Navy Convention Center on September 3 celebrating the port city's rich history, heritage and culture.
The campaign was launched to rediscover the unique identities of Bangladeshi cities, choosing Chattogram for its inaugural chapter. Leading up to the event, Ceylon Tea introduced specially designed packaging reflecting the city's traditions and engaged locals through a digital contest where residents shared their fondest memories of Chattogram.
The grand finale offered attendees an immersive journey into the city's legacy. The event highlighted Chattogram's evolution through exhibitions of historical artifacts and old paintings alongside stories of its iconic port and railway. Guests also enjoyed traditional musical performances and a showcase of the region's famous culinary heritage, celebrating everything from local delicacies to the city's beloved tea-stall culture.
A major highlight of the evening was the "Ceylon Amar Shahar Special Personality Award" honoring eminent individuals for their outstanding contributions to Chattogram's cultural and social landscape. The awardees included Ekushey Padak-winning journalist and Daily Azadi Editor MA Malek, Ekushey Padak-winning journalist Abul Momen, architect and urban planner Jerina Hossain, urban planner Engineer Delwar Hossain Majumder and writer-researcher Harun Rashid. Brigadier General (Retd.) Shahidullah Chowdhury, Executive Director of Abul Khair Group, presented the awards.
The vibrant event drew a diverse crowd of cultural figures, business leaders, media professionals and contest winners. With the Chattogram chapter successfully concluded, Ceylon Tea announced that the "Amar Shar" campaign will now travel to other cities also continuing its mission to celebrate the diverse stories across Bangladesh.
