To boost local milk production and support rural livelihoods, Narail-2 MP Ataur Rahman Bachchu distributed loan checks totaling Tk.62 lakh to 50 dairy farmers in Lohagara on Thursday.

The distribution ceremony took place at the Lohagara Upazila Parishad auditorium. The financial support is part of the government's "Expansion of Dairy Cooperative Activities in Milk Deficit Upazilas" project, an initiative designed to empower farmers and meet regional milk demands through a revolving fund.

The 50 beneficiaries were selected from the Nabaganga and Lakshipasha Milk Cooperative Societies. By injecting capital directly into these grassroots cooperatives the program aims to enhance both milk production and local consumption.

Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) SM Mustafizur Rahman chaired the event with Upazila Cooperative Officer Abdur Rahman moderating the session.

Addressing the farmers as the chief guest MP Bachchu emphasized the importance of agricultural cooperatives in building a self-reliant rural economy. The ceremony was also attended by key community figures including local government officials and regional leaders from BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, department inspectors and journalists.
