Bangladesh Bank will launch a new Tk.10 billion loan scheme called "Udyog" from September 16 to support young entrepreneurs.

The initiative targets entrepreneurs under age 28, aligning with the government's election pledge to create 10 million jobs nationwide. Central bank spokesperson Arief Hossain Khan announced the programme at a press conference Thursday with saying it will first roll out in upazilas of eight districts one representing each division before expanding countrywide.

Under the scheme, eligible young entrepreneurs can borrow up to Tk.1 million (Tk.10 lakh). Selected borrowers will also receive a grant equal to their loan amount after full repayment.

Khan said the goal is to build a strong pipeline of young entrepreneurs across the country.
