Tangail Job Fair Opens Employment Doors for 2,027 Young People

A daylong job fair organised by the Tangail district administration has created a major employment opportunity for young people, with 446 job seekers receiving jobs on the spot and another 1,581 candidates expected to secure employment within a month.

The ‘Job Fair-2026’, held on Tuesday, September 1, brought educated job seekers and employers together in an effort to address unemployment among the district’s young population.

The event effectively opened the door to confirmed employment for a total of 2,027 job seekers, making it a notable employment initiative in the district.

The job fair began at 10am at the Janaseba Chattar in front of the Tangail Deputy Commissioner's Office.

A total of 51 corporate organisations, including leading NGOs and prominent commercial companies from Tangail and across the country, participated in the event.

Job seekers submitted their CVs both online and offline, followed by direct interviews at the fair venue. Candidates who demonstrated the required qualifications were selected and offered jobs on the spot.

The fair attracted significant interest, with 11,427 job seekers registering through online and offline channels.

Following direct interviews, 446 candidates were recruited immediately. Another 1,581 candidates shortlisted for available positions are expected to complete the final recruitment process within the next month.

Tangail-5 (Sadar) lawmaker and State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku attended the event as the chief guest.

He formally handed appointment letters to the successful candidates who secured jobs on the spot.

The young recruits expressed excitement as they received their appointment letters, creating a festive atmosphere at the venue.

State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said the job fair was initially organised on a limited scale but received an encouraging response.

“This was initially organised as a pilot initiative. It has received a very good response. Inshallah, arrangements will be made to organise it on a much larger scale within the next six months,” he said.

He added, “Even before the election, I said that I would work to ensure that not a single educated young person in Tangail remains unemployed.”

Tangail Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque said many educated people seeking employment had approached her at different times.

“I discussed the issue with the honourable state minister, and he responded positively to the proposal to organise a job fair. The event was subsequently arranged with his advice and cooperation,” she said.

The district administration considers the first-ever Tangail job fair a significant step toward expanding employment opportunities for young people and hopes the initiative can be replicated on a larger scale.
