Harry Kane scored twice as defending champion Bayern Munich beat second-division Osnabrück 4-1 on Wednesday and advancing to the second round of the German Cup.

Jamal Musiala missed the match remaining sidelined since collapsing in two pre-season games due to a neurological issue. Coach Vincent Kompany said the Germany star "might" return for Saturday's league game against Schalke, but added, "I don't want to put any more pressure on the guy."

Despite facing a lower-division side, Kompany fielded a strong lineup with starting Kane, Luis Diaz and Michael Olise while new signing Ismael Saibari made his Bayern debut from the start after joining from PSV Eindhoven.

Osnabrück stunned the visitors early when Robin Meissner curled a stunning 30-meter strike into the top corner a goal that drew applause even from Kane and Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig. Kane equalized soon after and Tom Bischof put Bayern ahead in the 24th minute. Olise sealed the win in the 73rd minute before Kane completed his brace with a penalty.

The victory keeps Bayern on track to defend their German Cup title.
