Harry Kane has described the 2025-26 campaign as the best season of his career after scoring a remarkable 73 goals for Bayern Munich and England.
While his extraordinary performances make him a strong contender for the prestigious Ballon d'Or and the striker remains grounded also stating he is not focused on individual accolades. No English player has won the award since Michael Owen in 2001 and Kane faces steep competition this year from Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe.
In an interview with Spanish outlet Marca published on Friday, Kane reflected on his historic run. "I’ve never liked talking too much about myself" he said. "The only thing I’d say is that last season was incredible, both personally and for the team. It was by far the best season of my life."
Kane's 73-goal haul is the highest single-season total in world football since Lionel Messi’s record 82 goals in 2011-12. Despite this England captain acknowledges that statistics alone may not guarantee the title of the world's best player.
"I’m extremely proud of that but the Ballon d’Or isn't in my hands. It depends on the people who vote," Kane added. "As far as I’m concerned last season is in the past. Now I’m focused on this one and looking forward to seeing what else I can achieve."
The Ballon d'Or winner will be officially announced at the awards ceremony on October 26.
