World Cup champions Spain extended their impressive unbeaten run to 40 matches with a convincing 4-1 victory over Croatia in Nations League Group A3 on Tuesday. Meanwhile England secured a 2-0 win against a 10-man Czech Republic in Prague.
Playing in Seville the 17-year-old phenom Lamine Yamal starred for Spain opening the scoring just two minutes into the match with a curling low finish. Croatia managed to equalize in the 28th minute through Dion Beljo’s header but Spain regained the advantage three minutes later when Marc Pubill headed home from a Yamal cross. Yamal added his second goal in the 63rd minute before substitute Nico Williams sealed the comfortable win late in the match.
In Prague England capitalized on an early numerical advantage after Czech midfielder Pavel Sulc received a red card in the 23rd minute.
Thomas Tuchel’s side broke the deadlock shortly after halftime when Anthony Gordon headed in a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold. Captain Harry Kane secured the victory in the 69th minute with pouncing on a loose ball in the penalty area to make it 2-0.
Elsewhere in the Nations League Switzerland defeated a 10-man Scotland 3-0 in Group B1 following Jack Hendry’s early expulsion, while Slovenia earned a 2-0 win over North Macedonia.
