A colorful Mangal Shobhajatra (procession) was held in Bagerhat's Morelganj upazila on Friday to celebrate Janmashtami the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.

Organized by the Morelganj Sarbjanin Kendriya Sri Sri Harisava Temple and the local Janmashtami Celebration Committee the rally began at 11:00 am. Hundreds of Hindu devotees from 16 unions across the upazila marched through the town's main roads with festive enthusiasm before returning to the temple premises.

The vibrant procession was jointly led by Temple Committee Secretary Deepak Karmakar, Celebration Committee Convener Dhiresh Kumar Roy and Member Secretary Uttam Kumar.

Following the rally, a religious discussion was held at the Harisava Temple. Key speakers, including community leaders, teachers and temple committee officials, reflected on the life and teachings of Lord Krishna.

During the session, devotees highlighted the powerful dual symbolism of Lord Krishna holding a flute in one hand and a weapon in the other. Speakers emphasized that the community's resolve on this auspicious day is to spread love, peace and compassion while remaining steadfast and united against injustice and evil in society.

The deeply spiritual and festive program successfully concluded with the traditional distribution of prasad (food offerings) among all the attendees.
