


An armed gang robbed a home in Hatghata village under Madhukhali upazila early Monday, holding a family hostage and looting cash and valuables worth approximately Tk 5 lakh.
According to the homeowner, 54-year-old Khairul Islam Molla, a group of 13 to 14 armed men broke down the door and entered the house around 1:30 am. The attackers first tied up Molla’s son, Mahi. They then held Molla and his wife at gunpoint, tying them up before looting Tk 1.7 lakh in cash, about two bhoris of gold ornaments, and other goods, including new clothes.
Following the incident, Sub-Inspector Tanmoy Mondal of the Madhukhali Police Station visited the scene with a police force to gather initial evidence.
Madhukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sukdev Roy confirmed the incident. “Police inspected the scene immediately after receiving reports of the robbery,” Roy said. “We are investigating the matter seriously. Multiple police teams are working to identify and arrest the suspects, and we hope to bring the criminals to justice as quickly as possible.”
