Under the theme, "Take an oath of patriotism, say goodbye to corruption," a school-level debate competition and prize distribution ceremony took place in Porsha on Monday.
The event was co-organized by the Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Naogaon District Office at the Upazila Model Mosque and Islamic Culture Center auditorium.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam attended as the chief guest. Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President Hafez Maulana Md. Abdul Matin chaired the event, joined by Ekramul Haque Shah, former headmaster of Katipur Kalinagar High School.
Debating the motion, "Awareness, not just strict laws, can build a corruption-free society," Ganguria High School emerged as the champion, defeating the runner-up, Shisha High School, in an engaging final round. Afia Famida was named the best speaker of the competition.
"Corruption destroys a society and a state from within," UNO Rakibul Islam said in his address. "The younger generation must speak out. Bound by patriotism, we must all say 'no' to corruption from our respective positions." He strongly urged students to uphold morality and honesty in their daily lives.
Following his speech, Islam distributed trophies to the participating teams. The program concluded with an anti-corruption oath taken by the attendees, which included local teachers, students, journalists, and community members.
