


Bicycles and scholarships were distributed among students from small ethnic minority communities in Porsha upazila of Naogaon under the Development Assistance for Special Areas (excluding the Chittagong Hill Tracts) programme for the 2025-26 fiscal year funded by the Prime Minister's Office.
The distribution ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, organized by the Porsha Upazila Administration. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam presided over the event.
Chief guest Mostafizur Rahman handed over bicycles and scholarship grants to the students. Among others present were Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mamunur Rashid Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Atiqur Rahman, Upazila BNP General Secretary Sadequl Islam, former Senior Vice-President Taufiqur Rahman Shah Chowdhury and local dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Mostafizur Rahman said the initiative would help improve access to education, reduce dropout rates among students who travel long distances to attend school, and encourage them to continue their studies. He urged students to remain dedicated to their education to help build a modern and prosperous Bangladesh.
A total of 164 primary school students received Tk 3,000 each, 98 secondary school students received Tk 5,000 each and 66 college students received Tk 7,000 each. In addition 33 students received bicycles to support their education.
Following the ceremony the chief guest also participated in several social and development programmes in the upazila.
