


International Indigenous Peoples Day was celebrated in Naogaon’s Porsha upazila on Sunday with a colorful rally and a focused discussion advocating for the protection of indigenous life and traditional knowledge.
Organized by the National Indigenous Peoples Council and the local unit of the Adivasi Chhatra Parishad, the rally paraded through the upazila's main roads. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam and local indigenous leaders actively participated in the march.
Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. Speaking as the chief guest, Naogaon-1 MP Md. Mostafizur Rahman urged collective national efforts to improve the socio-economic conditions of indigenous communities, secure their constitutional rights, and preserve their rich cultural heritage. UNO Rakibul Islam also addressed the gathering as a special guest.
The event emphasized unity and policy support for marginalized communities. Other notable attendees included Adivasi Parishad President Dhiren Lakra, Upazila BNP Acting President Motahar Hossain Sufi, Nitpur Union BNP President Belal Hossain, and Acting General Secretary Salauddin Ahmed, alongside representatives from various indigenous and tribal organizations.
