BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Prime Minister's Advisor Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has warned that ousted fascist forces are attempting a resurgence. However, he declared that the people of Bangladesh remain united and will never allow the country to become subservient to foreign powers like New Delhi again.
Rizvi made these remarks on Tuesday (June 23) morning during a rally outside the BNP central office in Naya Paltan, protesting alleged anarchic activities by the banned Awami League. The gathering followed a protest march by the Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal (JCD) central committee, which navigated through the Nightingale and Fakirapul intersections before concluding at the party office.
"Those who stripped the people of their basic rights and normal lives are now using smuggled wealth to destabilize society and fund terrorism," Rizvi said. He assured the crowd that the public will actively resist all such violent activities.
Rizvi noted that after a long struggle, a democratic government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was formed through a free and fair election. He accused opposition forces of conspiring against this new mandate after failing to crush the BNP during their 17-year rule.
Recalling the numerous forced disappearances under the Awami League, Rizvi emphasized that the era of crossfires and abductions is permanently over. He stated that in the four months since the BNP-led government took office, not a single extrajudicial incident has occurred. He maintained that law enforcement is strictly following legal procedures, with no one being jailed under politically motivated or false charges.
Bangladesh is now advancing toward democratic progress, a multi-party system, and freedom of expression, Rizvi added. He expressed confidence that conspiracies to undermine these achievements will fail because the nation's democratic forces are united.
Urging daily vigilance from party workers, he warned that the banned Awami League and its allies might attempt provocative, anti-state activities. Drawing on the spirit of the Liberation War, Rizvi reaffirmed that a nation built on the sacrifices of millions will fiercely protect its sovereignty.
The rally saw widespread participation from various tiers of the BNP, Jubo Dal, and Chhatra Dal.
