Student Protests in India: Case Filed Against 300 Individuals

Indian police have registered a case against 300 individuals following a student march toward the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, organized to protest against alleged paper leaks and irregularities in public service recruitment exams.

Ranchi Superintendent of Police Parash Rana stated that the case was filed on charges of violating restrictive orders, vandalizing public property, and attacking police personnel.

Speaking to the Indian Express, he confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Assembly Police Station against 300 unidentified miscreants for obstructing the peaceful procession toward the assembly on August 10.

Hatia Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Neeraj Kumar mentioned that authorities are currently analyzing video footage to identify those accused of causing disruption during the rally.

On Monday, student protesters in Ranchi attempted to break through police barricades as they marched toward the state assembly. Police deployed water cannons and baton charges to disperse the crowd.

The students had called for the assembly siege program, alleging that persistent question paper leaks and corruption in government recruitment examinations have put their future careers at risk.
