IGP Directs Senior Officers to Boost Direct Monitoring to Dynamize Fieldwork

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir has directed senior field-level police officers to increase direct monitoring to bring greater dynamism to policing operations. He emphasized that maintaining law and order in the capital home to domestic residents and foreign diplomats alike is essential for nationwide stability.

The police chief made these remarks while addressing senior officers at a special exchange of views on law and order, held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh on Thursday (August 13) afternoon.

The IGP noted that enhanced direct monitoring and proper supervision from senior officers serve to motivate lower-tier personnel to perform their duties with greater enthusiasm.

Addressing the gathered officials, he said, "Do not bow down to injustice. Work in the interest of the country and to establish peace for the public. However, the police force will not accept responsibility for intentional mistakes or attempts to serve personal interests."

Highlighting the importance of neutrality and professionalism, the IGP added, "Regardless of political affiliation or opinions, the police have a single identity—'we are servants of the law and the public.' There will be a zero-tolerance policy against drugs."

He also identified modern challenges facing the force, stating, "Countering cybercrime, rumors, social media propaganda, and misinformation has become a bigger challenge than traditional crime. Therefore, everyone must remain alert against conspiracies aimed at making the police ineffective, as well as against misleading information."

The meeting was attended by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmad, Additional IGP Khandakar Rafiqul Islam, and other senior officials of Bangladesh Police.
