Hundreds of locals formed a human chain in Bhola on Monday morning to demand the arrest and trial of a primary school teacher accused of raping a fifth-grade student. The protest took place along the main road in front of the Dhania Union Parishad.
Protesters stated that the accused, Assistant Teacher Ashok Chandra Das, has disgraced the teaching profession and poses a severe threat to student safety. Demonstrators demanded his immediate arrest and the highest penalty under the law.
According to case details, at around 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, Das allegedly called the student to the third-floor attic of the Dhania UP Government Primary School during school hours and assaulted her. After returning home, the victim informed her mother.
The family immediately notified the school's acting headmaster and filed a written complaint with the Sadar Upazila Primary Education Officer. Following these initial steps, the victim's mother formally filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at the Bhola Model Police Station on Sunday morning.
