


A two-and-a-half-year-old girl tragically drowned in a pond near her home in Monpura upazila of Bhola on Monday.
The deceased identified as Tasmia was the daughter of Matin Mia from Ishwarganj village in the Monpura union.
According to family members, Tasmia was playing in the courtyard with other children around 10:30 AM. At some point she slipped out of sight and accidentally fell into an adjacent pond. When her relatives noticed she was missing, they immediately launched a frantic search.
After a brief period, she was found floating in the water. Her family rescued her and rushed her to the Monpura Upazila Health Complex. However, the on-duty doctor, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Khalid Hasan Tanim declared her dead on arrival with confirming that the toddler had passed away before reaching the medical facility.
The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the local community, serving as a heartbreaking reminder of the need for close supervision of young children near open water bodies.
