


A three-year-old girl tragically died after drowning in a bucket of water at Goalanda upazila in Rajbari on Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 7:00 AM in the Rabiulla Bepari Para area under Daulatdia Union. The deceased child was identified as Taskia the daughter of Ilias Sheikh is an expatriate worker in Saudi Arabia.
According to family members, Taskia’s elder sister had collected water lilies from a nearby wetland on Thursday afternoon and placed them in a large bucket next to the household tube well. On Friday morning Taskia went to play near the tube well unnoticed by her family. While leaning over to retrieve the lilies, she lost her balance and fell headfirst into the bucket.
After noticing her absence the family members searched the house and found her submerged inside the water bucket. She was immediately rushed to the Goalanda Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor in the emergency department declared her dead on arrival.
Local Union Parishad member Md. Jewel Rana confirmed the incident, stating that a pall of gloom has descended over the village following the child's tragic death.
