A five-day Entrepreneur Fair, organized by Khairul Group, has commenced at the Swapnadwip Resort in Ishwardi, Pabna, coinciding with the commemoration of the Great Victory Day on December 16.
The fair, which features 42 entrepreneurs showcasing their manufactured products, aims to boost local business and innovation.
The fair was inaugurated on Friday at 11 am by the Chief Guest, Mohammad Wahid Hossain ndc, Chairman (Senior Secretary) of the Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council, through a ribbon cutting, and the release of balloons and pigeons.
The event was held under the overall management of Khairul Group Chairman Saidul Islam Manna Sardar and presided over by Managing Director Khairul Islam. Chief Executive Officer Munir Tajwar Ohin delivered the welcome speech.
Newly appointed Executive Officer of Ishwardi Upazila Md. Ariful Islam and Additional Superintendent of Police of Ishwardi Circle Pranab Kumar were special guests.
Senior Secretary Wahid Hossain ndc delivered a notable speech, touching upon politics, national development, and economic challenges. He emphasized the need for the nation to forget personal grudges, move past violence and hatred, and develop in a new, unified way.
He expressed concern that Bangladesh has not been able to hold proper elections in 54 years, noting shortcomings in the last three elections. He suggested that while the Awami League ran the country due to its work capacity, it incurred significant damage in pursuit of election wins, leading to mass uprisings.
He highlighted the government's limitations in the SME sector, which prevents industrialists from moving forward and failing to create desired employment. Regarding defaulted bank loans, he noted that while the country provided Tk 2 lakh 50 thousand crore in subsidies to the energy and power sectors in the last five years, loan defaulters often fail to establish institutions.
He strongly urged revamping the banking system for small businessmen and advocated that the "big Raghav Boals" (powerful defaulters) should support smaller institutions rather than monopolizing large loans.
Khairul Islam, MD of Khairul Group, lamented the scarcity of "golden people in Sonar Bangla" and the significant lack of government support for businessmen. He called for easing business processes and an end to the attitude of indifference toward businessmen, irrespective of changes in government.
The fair was organized for the third time to commemorate Victory Day. Total 42 entrepreneurs are participating with their stalls. Students have been granted a half discount on the entry fee. The program concluded with the presentation of honorary crests to the guests.
