Two Youths Die in Pabna Allegedly After Consuming Poisonous Liquor

Two young men, identified as Sumon Sarkar (35) and Mamun Hossain (32), have tragically died in Pabna, reportedly after consuming poisonous liquor late on Thursday (December 11) night.

Sumon Sarkar, son of Sanchit Sarkar of Gopalpur Mohalla, and Mamun Hossain, son of Habibur Rahman of Radhanagar Maktab area. Both deceased were musical instrument artists and members of a local band sound organization.

According to local sources, the two drank alcohol after attending a function on Wednesday night. They fell ill thereafter, with their condition worsening on Thursday night, leading to their hospitalization.

Senior staff nurse Sukhi Khatun of Pabna General Hospital confirmed that one victim was brought in around midnight and the other around 3 am. One individual died while at the hospital, and his relatives took the body away. The other victim reportedly died while being transferred to Rajshahi for treatment.

Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dulal Hossain confirmed that hospital documents attribute the cause of death to alcohol consumption. He stated that the police are investigating the details of where and what kind of alcohol was consumed.

Despite the deaths, both families have refused to provide information or file a written complaint with the police station. The family of one deceased person cremated the body due to traditional rites. The body of the other person was brought to the police station.

The OC assured that the matter is under investigation, and appropriate legal action will be taken once the investigation is complete.
