Leaders from major political parties Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and National Citizen Party (NCP) met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today and committed to a unified front against all attempts to sabotage the July Uprising.
The leaders unanimously described the recent attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8, as part of a conspiracy to foil the uprising.
Professor Yunus stated that the attack on Osman Hadi was pre-planned and backed by powerful forces aiming to prevent the upcoming election. He called for a united confrontation against the conspirators, noting that they have expanded their network and deployed trained shooters.
Leaders from all parties emphasized the critical need for unity and increased communication to prevent any rift in the anti-fascist political alliance.
BNP's Salahuddin Ahmed stressed staying united, refraining from blaming each other, and raising a united voice against the conspiracy. Jamaat-e-Islami's Mia Golam Parwar urged parties to stop blaming each other for narrow interests and reaffirmed the need to remain united as before.
The parties decided to hold an all-party meeting, under the initiative of Inquilab Mancha, in the coming days to protest the attack on Osman Hadi. The political leaders called for strict drives to recover illegal weapons across the country before the elections.
The meeting was held at the State Guest House Jamuna. Attendees included BNP's Salahuddin Ahmed and Major (Retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed Bir Bikram; Jamaat-e-Islami's Mia Golam Parwar and Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair; NCP's Nahid Islam and Hasnat Abdullah; Inquilab Mancha's Abdullah Al Jaber; and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul.
