Kavita Khanna, the second wife of legendary actor Vinod Khanna, has offered insights into her marriage and her relationship with step-son Akshaye Khanna, following the recent resurgence of interest in the family.

In a conversation on Loveena Tandon's YouTube channel, Kavita Khanna revealed that she never attempted to be a "mother" to Akshaye Khanna, stating that he already had "the best mother" in his biological mother, Geetanjali Khanna.

Kavita described her relationship with Vinod Khanna as a "spiritual connection," characterized by "passion and love." She called it a "perfect marriage with all its flaws."

She recalled the period when Vinod Khanna took sanyaas and joined Osho's ashram following the death of his mother. Kavita noted that Vinod Khanna was not expecting to become a Member of Parliament and had a lot of work in process when he passed away.

The summary also includes resurfaced comments from Akshaye Khanna about his father's decision to leave his family and acting career to follow Osho's teachings (sanyaas):

Childhood Understanding: Akshaye admitted it was "impossible" for him to understand his father's decision as a five-year-old, though he can understand it now.

Profound Experience: He reflected that something must have moved his father so "deeply inside" to make such a life-changing decision, especially when he "had everything in life."

Reason for Return: Akshaye believed his father returned not because he regretted the decision, but because the commune was disbanded and destroyed (Osho's ashram in Oregon, USA, was dissolved), forcing everyone to find their own way. He speculated that his father "wouldn't have ever come back" otherwise.

Vinod Khanna first married Geetanjali Khanna in 1971, divorcing in 1985 before marrying Kavita Khanna. He took sanyaas in 1982, returned to India around 1985, and continued working in films until his death in 2017.
