Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid announced that the government is swiftly providing seeds, fertilizers and cattle vaccines to help farmers recover from the severe floods in the Chattogram region.
Speaking at a coordination meeting with regional officials at the Chattogram Circuit House on Saturday the minister acknowledged the massive scale of the damage. While compensating for all losses simultaneously is challenging, he assured that targeted agricultural and livestock support is already underway.
Prioritizing livestock health, the minister issued a 15-day deadline to administer foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccines to 100% of cattle in the affected zones. He instructed that even animals vaccinated six months ago must receive booster doses to prevent further economic devastation for farmers.
The minister also issued a stern warning against corruption in the distribution of aid. "The government maintains a zero-tolerance policy against irregularities. We must ensure that all assistance reaches the actual beneficiaries without any hidden charges" he stated, adding that immediate action will be taken against any negligence.
He urged officials to work with absolute sincerity to rehabilitate distressed farmers and ranchers ensuring a transparent and effective recovery process.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Md. Khorshed Alam, Chattogram Divisional Fisheries Director Md. Anwar Hossain, Livestock Director Dr. Md. Atiyar Rahman and Additional District Magistrate Syed Mahbubul Haque among others.
