Sonali Bank PLC organized a comprehensive workshop on preventing money laundering and terrorist financing at the BRAC Learning Center in Faridpur on Saturday.

Arranged by the bank's Faridpur General Manager's Office training brought together managers from 87 branches anti-money laundering officers from five principal offices and regional executive officers. The initiative aimed to enhance regulatory compliance and secure the banking system against financial crimes.

Speaking as the chief guest Md. Rafiqul Islam Deputy Managing Director of Sonali Bank urged officials to exercise utmost caution, accountability and professionalism. "By strictly following Bangladesh Bank’s directives and promptly reporting suspicious transactions, we can ensure a transparent and secure financial system," he stated.

Md. Tanjimul Islam General Manager (in-charge) of the Faridpur office presided over the session. He emphasized that executing robust Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols and risk-based assessments will ultimately strengthen the bank’s reputation and financial security.

During the technical sessions, experts from the bank's central Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Division Deputy General Manager Biswas Mohammad Mizanur Rahman and Senior Principal Officer Ramprasad Das trained the attendees.

Their detailed discussions covered existing financial laws Bangladesh Bank mandates, risk management and the practical steps for verifying customers and flagging suspicious activity.
