


A 21-year-old convicted prisoner named Rimpa escaped from Kashimpur Central Women's Jail in Gazipur on Thursday evening by scaling the boundary wall.
According to prison sources, the incident occurred while approximately 40 female inmates were carrying bricks inside the facility. Rimpa exploited a lack of guard supervision to scale the boundary wall near the office building. Following a thorough search of the premises and prison authorities confirmed the escape by reviewing CCTV footage.
Assistant Inspector General of Prisons (AIG) Md. Jannatul Farhad confirmed that two matrons and five female prison guards have been temporarily suspended for negligence of duty following a preliminary investigation.
The prison authorities filed a formal case with the Konabari Model Police Station on Friday night. Law enforcement agencies have launched a coordinated operation to track down and rearrest the escaped convict.
