Farmer Dies After Land Dispute Clash in Bhola

A 55-year-old farmer, Md. Nur Islam, died following a violent dispute over land with a neighbor in Bhola's Tajumuddin Upazila on Saturday morning. Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the incident.

The clash occurred in Badlipur village under Shambhupur Union. According to police and local sources, Nur Islam and his neighbor, Md. Abu Jafar had a long-standing land dispute. The argument turned physical when Nur Islam attempted to build a kitchen extension near his house and Jafar intervened to stop him. During the altercation, Nur Islam fell critically ill. He was rushed inside his home by relatives where he passed away shortly after.

Upon receiving the news, Tajumuddin Police recovered the body and detained Abu Jafar on the spot. Following the initial detention, the victim’s wife Alefa Begum filed a formal murder case accusing Abu Jafar and his wife, Monowara Begum.

Tajumuddin Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mizanur Rahman confirmed the arrest and stated that the body has been sent to Bhola Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. The suspect is currently being processed to appear before the court.
