Teenager Goes Missing in Jhalakathi Floating Guava Orchard Canal

A 13-year-old boy went missing on Saturday afternoon after jumping into a canal while visiting the popular floating guava orchards in the Bhimruli area of Jhalakathi Sadar Upazila. The missing teenager has been identified as Md. Sunny son of Md. Sohel Hossain from Rajapur Upazila.

According to local sources, Sunny was part of a group of 15 people who had traveled from Rajapur by trawler for a day trip. After having lunch, the group went to bathe in the canal near Bhimruli Bazar around 2:15 PM. Witnesses reported that Sunny climbed a mango tree on the canal bank and jumped into the water but failed to resurface.

His companions quickly searched for him before notifying the police and fire service. Teams from the local police station and a specialized fire service diving team arrived at the scene shortly after.

Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmud Hossain confirmed that a rescue operation is actively underway to locate the missing teenager.
