Two United States service members were killed and one remains missing following an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack in Jordan on Friday.
The casualties occurred as US and partner forces were actively defending against the assault US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed in a statement released on Saturday.
Four other American service members, who were medically evacuated to local hospitals in Jordan, have since been discharged. Additional personnel who sustained minor injuries during the attack have already returned to active duty, the command noted.
Citing military protocol and respect for the grieving families CENTCOM stated it will withhold the identities of the fallen soldiers and further operational details until 24 hours after their next of kin have been officially notified.
