


State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam issued a stern warning against criminal activities and declaring that no individual including her own party workers is exempt from the law.
She made these remarks as the chief guest at a social awareness meeting organized by the Faridpur District Police. The event focused on eradicating social menaces such as drugs, eve-teasing, online gambling, extortion, child marriage and violent local conflicts.
"If anyone thinks they can get away with committing a crime because they are close to me or sit on my stage, they are entirely wrong. Everyone is equal in the eyes of the law" she stated.
Addressing the residents of Nagarkanda and Saltha, the State Minister urged locals to voluntarily surrender indigenous weapons used in regional clashes to the police. She emphasized that resolving land and local disputes through dialogue rather than violence or prolonged litigation, is crucial for building a peaceful society.
She further noted that combating these crimes requires a united effort from the administration, teachers, parents, and religious leaders. Reminding citizens of their rights, she encouraged victims of exploitation to fearlessly file complaints at police stations also adding that the government and law enforcement are strictly committed to ensuring public safety.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Mazharul Islam the Superintendent of Police Shahriar Mohammad Miyazi and Faridpur District BNP Joint Convener Syed Zulfikar Hossain Jewel.
Speakers echoed the necessity of stronger police-public cooperation and heightened social awareness to significantly reduce local crime rates.
