US President Donald Trump has expressed hope of meeting Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in person soon.

Trump conveyed the expectation in a letter sent to the Bangladesh prime minister on Monday, according to Atiqur Rahman Ruman, additional press secretary to the prime minister.

In the letter, Trump said he firmly believes that Bangladesh and its people have a bright future under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, despite the challenges the country has faced.

The US president also conveyed his “sincere greetings and love” to the people of Bangladesh.

Trump also thanked Tarique Rahman for Bangladesh’s decision to purchase Boeing aircraft from the United States.

He assured the prime minister that Boeing would not disappoint Bangladesh, adding that he would remember Tarique Rahman’s personal attention and decision regarding the deal.

“Thank you very much for your attention and decision on this matter. I look forward to seeing you in the near future,” Trump wrote in the letter.

Trump also asked the prime minister to convey his greetings and affection to the people of Bangladesh.

“They have gone through many difficult times. However, under your leadership, I firmly believe that a very bright future awaits Bangladesh and its people,” he wrote.

Trump’s letter comes amid growing attention to Bangladesh-US relations, including trade and aviation cooperation. His expression of interest in meeting Tarique Rahman could further strengthen diplomatic engagement between Dhaka and Washington.

The letter did not specify a date or venue for the proposed meeting.
