US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the US will strike Iran “hard” in retaliation for Tehran's attacks on American forces in Jordan.

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, conflicting rhetoric from the United States and Iran highlights a highly volatile regional security situation.

Former US President Donald Trump recently stated in a Fox News interview that the US would retaliate "hard" against Iran following deadly attacks on American forces in Jordan. Trump claimed that recent overnight strikes against Iran-backed militias in Iraq were fully coordinated with the Iraqi government. While adopting a tough stance also he noted that the US would "let them keep talking" regarding potential diplomatic negotiations, though he warned that military operations could quickly resume if talks fail.

Meanwhile, Iran has doubled down on its regional military authority. Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, Deputy Chief of Iran's Army for Coordination announced that the Iranian Navy is currently at peak operational readiness. He asserted that Iranian forces maintain absolute control over the eastern Strait of Hormuz, the northern Indian Ocean and the Sea of Oman.

Sayyari stressed that no maritime movement occurs in these strategic waters without Tehran's explicit permission.

Furthermore, the Rear Admiral assured the public that Iran's land, sea and air borders remain entirely secure. He attributed the Armed Forces' current strength and deterrence capabilities on the international stage to the guiding principles and strategic recommendations of the nation's supreme leadership.
