The Haji Anwar Islam Foundation distributed cash and emergency relief to over 1,500 flood-affected residents in the Sheikherkhil Union of Banshkhali upazila on Wednesday (July 15).
The initial distribution took place at the Sheikherkhil outpost at 11:00 am, followed by door-to-door deliveries to reach the most severely impacted households. The relief packages included cash, emergency medicines, and essential food staples such as rice, lentils, oil, potatoes, onions, and dry food.
Abdu Shukkur, founder of the foundation, highlighted the unprecedented scale of the disaster. "Banshkhali has never witnessed a flood of this magnitude, and Sheikherkhil is the worst-hit area," he said. "We have been providing financial and food assistance since the crisis began. Given the vast number of victims, we expanded our reach to another 1,500 people today. Our support for the community will continue."
